First news of All New
Astra's engine line-up ahead of Frankfurt
debut
Today we are delighted to announce
first details of All New Astra's highly competitive line-up
of petrol and diesel engines. We are also pleased to
confirm that a new Astra ecoFLEX variant boasting CO2 emissions of only 109g/km
will be available shortly after launch.* This means not only
will the All New Astra ecoFLEX be in the lowest 13% diesel
Benefit-in-Kind tax band, but with CO2 emissions sub 110g/km, it
will also qualify for 100% Writing Down
Allowance.
Debuting at the Frankfurt International
Motor Show on 15 September, the All New Astra will have a
nine-engine range that promises to reduce combined CO2 emissions and fuel
consumption by an average of 10 per cent over almost all
equivalent models in the current Astra range. As with the
Insignia, all New Astra powerplants meet stringent Euro 5
emissions standards.
All New Astra's ultra efficient
diesels and downsized petrol engines highlight our continued
strategy of reducing CO2 emissions and minimising
fuel consumption without affecting driving fun.
Diesel
Engines
At the heart of Vauxhall's All
New Astra diesel line-up is a powerful, Euro-5 compliant
2.0-litre common-rail turbo-diesel. The rest of the efficient
diesel range will comprise 1.3- and 1.7-litre CDTi units, and
you'll be pleased to hear that all diesels produce CO2 emissions of no more than
129g/km (with manual transmission). Despite this, their power
will range from 95 PS to 160 PS, allowing generous performance
with optimum frugality.
Petrol
Engines
An all-new 1.4-litre Turbo
engine will join the range from launch, producing 140 PS and
200Nm of torque between 1,850 and 4,900rpm. This engine
replaces the 1.8-litre from the current range, yet features
lower emissions, equal power and 15 per cent more torque.
Completing the petrol line-up for All New Astra are two
1.4-litre units, producing 87PS and 100PS respectively and
emitting just 129g/km of CO2 putting them in the low
15% Benefit-in-Kind tax band, and two 1.6-litre engines -
one turbocharged, producing 180 PS and the other with 115
PS.
All New Astra powerplants will be
equipped with six-speed gearboxes, with the exception of 1.4-
and 1.6-litre models and the 1.3-litre CDTi which employ a
five-speed manual gearbox. A new, compact automatic
transmission will also be available.
You can look
forward to hearing more about All New Astra, including pricing
and specification, on 15 September when our sensational
new model debuts at Frankfurt. In the meantime, if you'd like
