GM Strengthens Vauxhall Operations

GM Strengthens Vauxhall Operations

9 December 2009

We are pleased to announce that Bill Parfitt has postponed his retirement and has been appointed Chairman, GM UK. Full details can be found in the press release below.

Following Duncan Aldred's recent appointment as Vauxhall Managing Director, GM has further strengthened its operations in the UK with the appointment of Bill Parfitt as Chairman, GM UK.

With Aldred managing all Vauxhall's operational activity and performance with particular focus on Sales, Marketing & Aftersales, Parfitt's strategic role will be to prepare the UK business for future growth.

These appointments strengthen the Vauxhall brand and reaffirm GM's commitment to the UK as a leading global market.

Nick Reilly, President, GM Europe, has welcomed these appointments. "At this critical time of restructuring our European operation, Vauxhall stands out with a brand strength and loyal customer base that can continue to grow and strengthen. With Bill's strategic vision and a strong operational grip from Duncan, together they will drive the growth of the Vauxhall brand in the UK".

Vauxhall has a 106 year history and the UK market accounts for over 20% of GM's sales in Europe. The UK is also GM's fourth largest market in the world. To further strengthen the UK's position and the Vauxhall brand specifically, there are new opportunities for growth from a significant new product portfolio (starting with new Astra) to the capability of the UK's efficient manufacturing and engineering operations.

We thank you for your continued support and we look forward to extending our relationship together as business partners.

Yours sincerely

Maurice Howkins
Fleet Sales Director
