18 February 2010 Vauxhall Fleet Underlining the company's long-held reputation as a dynamic brand with a genuine commitment to the business community, Vauxhall is proud to announce that from today, 18 February 2010, we will be focusing attention solely on our award-winning Vauxhall line-up and changing the name of our industry-leading fleet operation to reflect this fact. Fleet name change signals positive future for Vauxhall Vauxhall was always a leading brand in the GM UK Fleet portfolio and following the restructuring of our European-based operations, Vauxhall Fleet returns to the front and centre of our approach to fleet customers. As you will have read, Saab AB is being sold to Spyker Cars NV while Chevrolet pursue a more independent path, that includes, a brand specific, fleet sales approach. Vauxhall and Chevrolet will continue to benefit from the shared parentage with General Motors, but the two brands will now operate in the UK independently. We have a positive vision Clearly, these are exciting times for Vauxhall. European Car of the Year 2009, Insignia, finished Number 1 in its segment last year - outselling premium brands like the BMW 3 Series, Mercedes C Class and Audi A4, along with volume competitors like the VW Passat and Ford Mondeo. The all-new Astra was the 2009 winner of the Golden Steering Wheel Award - one of the automotive industry's most prestigious awards. Voted best vehicle in the 'compact class', the British-built all-new Astra got off to a spectacular start and continues to go from strength to strength. Waiting in the wings, our new ecoFLEX model proves serious performance, low emissions and genuine tax efficiency are not mutually exclusive. Don't forget that the CO2 output for this brilliant new contender is just 109g/km. The ecoFLEX low-emission range of cars was the best-selling 'green' range in 2009 and also won the coveted Fleet World Environment award. With over 50 different models to support businesses and drivers, our ecoFLEX offering is one of the largest ranges of environmental models in the UK. The forthcoming New Meriva, which is being launched 2 March at the Geneva Motor Show, offers one of the most innovative and stylish cabins in the whole of the compact MPV class. While big, tough and dependable New Movano takes Vauxhall's Commercial Vehicle range into a wider segment of the heavy van market than ever before with its front and rear-wheel drive models and extended payload range.
President GM Europe Nick Reilly unveils ambitious Plan for the Future President GM Europe Nick Reilly last week announced an ambitious five-year €11 billion Plan for the Future that will reinvigorate Vauxhall/Opel carlines and place a strong emphasis on alternative propulsions. The viability plan envisions that 80 percent of the Vauxhall/Opel carlines will be at an age of three years or less by 2012. This includes eight major launches in 2010 alone - such as Meriva, Movano and Astra Sports Tourer - and another four in 2011, most notably the extended-range electric vehicle Ampera, an industry-first in Europe. In addition, Vauxhall/Opel will invest €1 billion in innovative and fuel-efficient powertrain technology as it introduces a range of new green products. This includes:
In addition, the company has accelerated efforts to introduce an entry in the sub-Corsa segment and to make a strong push in the light commercial vehicle business. "Vauxhall/Opel has a clear vision: to be a leading European manufacturer of high quality, desirable automotive products, based on German engineering, driven by a united team of professionals and respected around the world. This vision will be realized by offering an exciting and expanded product portfolio based on a strategic push into alternative propulsion technology," said Reilly. Support when you need it Add to this the underlying back-up and commitment of our dealer network - and you really do have a recipe for future success. We'd like to thank you for your continuing support and look forward to an exciting and fulfilling future as business partners.
