Vauxhall Fleet announce Hot News from the Geneva Motorshow

World Premières for New Meriva and Flextreme GT/E Concept

With an eye on both now and the future, Vauxhall unveiled not one but two cars at this year's Geneva Motor Show, with World Premières of the New Meriva compact MPV and futuristic Flextreme GT/E Concept which is set to boost the company's credentials as a market leader in environmentally-conscious vehicles.

Bolstering this message will be the groundbreaking Ampera extended-range electric vehicle (E-REV) alongside Vauxhall's most economical production car to date, our latest Corsa ecoFLEX model.

New Meriva

New Meriva - the flexibility champion

New Meriva is set to turn the conventional concept of passenger car usability on its head, with dynamic styling, premium quality, unique, first-in-segment rear-hinged FlexDoors and a raft of clever features that further boost versatility and practicality.

Five turbocharged powertrains with outputs ranging from 75-140PS will be available when New Meriva hits UK showrooms in June. Two further diesels will join the range later this year: a high mpg/low CO2 1.3CDTi 16v (95PS) ecoFLEX offering and a 1.7CDTi 16v (130PS) turbo charged diesel.

Flextreme GT/E Concept

Flextreme GT/E Concept gives clues to Vauxhall's future environmental direction

Dramatic design meets ground-breaking environmental technology as the Flextreme GT/E concept reveals the shape of things to come.

The Flextreme GT/E illustrates how E-REV technology can be plugged into large or mid-sized vehicles, as well as compact cars, like the up and coming Ampera.

Vauxhall Ampera Vauxhall Ampera showcases E-REV technology

The five-door, four-seater Vauxhall Ampera is scheduled for production late next year. It features the same design DNA as the all-new Astra and award-winning Insignia, yet employs groundbreaking E-REV technology. Unlike conventional propulsion systems, E-REV uses electricity as its primary power source, supplemented by a small engine to generate electricity for its motors when the lithium-ion battery pack runs low. This helps Ampera overcome the range anxiety issues associated with purely electric cars.

Revised Corsa range - now featuring Vauxhall's most economical model ever!

While E-REV technology forms a crucial part of Vauxhall's future game plan, the top-selling Corsa range illustrates what Vauxhall is doing to deliver highly efficient passenger cars right now. Thanks to a significant reduction in CO2 emissions, Vauxhall is set to sell more Corsas in the sub-125g/km segment than any other model range in the UK this year. The ultra-economical units - all of which (bar the VXR model) exceed 50mpg (Combined) when fitted with a manual gearbox - are joined by a host of chassis improvements, boosting its driver appeal still further. The star of the range is the latest ecoFLEX model, which not only gains 20PS but also achieves a Combined figure of 76.3mpg and CO2 emissions of just 98g/km.
