Like many businesses, Vauxhall is committed to helping our customers reduce their
carbon footprint. Nowhere is this commitment more evident than in our ecoFLEX line-up
of the popular New Agila and Corsa models and the future addition of the new Insignia ecoFLEX
announced last week at Motor Show. More models will join our low emission range based on the Vauxhall
Flextreme – a sensational new concept model which raises the bar in electric/diesel hybrid
technology.

Right here, right now
Today we are pleased to announce the addition of four new 5-door Hatchback 1.7CDTi 16v
ecoFLEX models to our award-winning
Astra range. The new 5-door ecoFLEX models will be available
in
Life (air conditioned model), Club, SXi and Design trim levels.
Comprehensive specification
Upholding our tradition of making low emission models widely available
across the range, the new vehicles are competitively
priced and offer comprehensive
specifications including:
- New 110PS 1.7 litre common rail turbo diesel engine with
6 speed transmission
and complete with Diesel Particulate Filter
- Optimised front opening (revised grille)
- Lowered chassis (new variant)
- Lower engine aero panel
- Rear engine badge replaced by ecoFLEX badge
In addition, Life (air conditioned) ecoFLEX models will get:
- Low rolling resistance tyres on existing 15 inch wheels
Please note that the following options are not available on ecoFLEX models:
- VXR Styling Pack 1
- Sports Pack
- IDS Plus
- 17 or 18 inch alloy wheels
Tax– and cost-efficient
Each ecoFLEX model produces only 120g/km of CO2, providing significant VED and BiK savings,
as well as great drivability and improved fuel consumption.
With CO2 figures of just 120g/km, these driveable, low emission models
fall within the lowest, 13%, diesel band for Benefit-in-Kind (BiK) tax. Yet despite the beneficial
effect on your drivers' tax position,*1 these new variants are priced at just £295
above their existing 1.7 litre (100PS) CDTi equivalents.
You will be pleased to hear that all new Astra 5-door 1.7CDTi 16v (110PS) ecoFLEX models are
expected to have an estimated combined fuel consumption figure of approx 62.8mpg (4.5l/km).

What’s more, there are significant benefits when it comes to
Vehicle Excise Duty – Astra ecoFLEX’s CO2 emissions of 120g/km put it squarely into Band B –
thereby qualifying for the Government’s second lowest tax disc rate of just £35 per annum.
And as if that wasn’t enough, Astra ecoFLEX – along with our existing Agila and Corsa
ecoFLEX models – may also qualify for a 100% discount on the £8 London Congestion Charge.*3
Capital Allowances
Looking ahead, it’s worth bearing in mind that with effect from 1 April 2009 (for Corporation Tax Purposes)
and 6 April 2009 (for income tax purposes) the capital allowance treatment of business cars will be reformed.
For example, expenditure on cars with CO2 emissions above 160g/km will attract a 10% writing-down allowance (WDA) whereas
expenditure on cars with CO2 emissions of 160g/km or below – like Astra ecoFLEX models – will attract a full 20% WDA.
