Interior space and practicality
The new Sports Tourer offers ample space for five occupants with a highly competitive, 540 litre load space. By adding around eight centimetres to the hatchback rear cargo length, the completely flat load area extends to 1.91 metres long to the front seats for a maximum capacity of 1,510 litres.

Sporty design and spectacular aerodynamics
While Insignia’s designers have carried the car’s bold design themes into the Sports Tourer shape, they were careful to ensure it retains a unique appearance. Mark Adams, Vice President of GM Europe Design, said, “This is a stand-alone model and not simply an estate version of the saloon. In fact, all the bodywork after the B-pillar is unique to the Sports Tourer.” With a CD of just below 0.30, the Insignia Sports Tourer is the most aerodynamic estate Vauxhall has ever built. .
New technology for engines and trim
Two new Vauxhall engines, available across the entire Insignia ranges, saloon, hatchback and Sports Tourer also make their world premiere at the Paris Motor Show. Joining the five units already available comes the innovative 190PS 2.0-litre BiTurbo diesel with Clean-Tech combustion system, and the down-sized 1.6-litre petrol turbo engine producing 180PS
Both engines harness state-of-the-art technology to produce higher performance from smaller displacements, rivaling larger engines in performance, torque and drivability, while consuming considerably less fuel.
Sports Tourer also benefits from the launch of Insignia’s newest seat fabric - an automotive industry first, using 'TopTec' nano-technology to resist staining and liquid penetration. Up to 50 per cent easier to clean than conventional car upholstery, it’s available with the beige interior, making light-coloured trim easier to choose for families with small children or dogs.

Debuting at the Paris Motor Show, the new Insignia ecoFLEX model, offering environmentally-friendly driving without compromise, will be available as a hatchback and saloon in the second half of 2009, with prices announced closer to the launch.
At the heart of Vauxhall’s newest ecoFLEX model is a powerful, Euro-5 compliant 2.0-litre common-rail turbo-diesel. Coupled with a multitude of detail improvements to the powertrain and wind resistance factors, it enabled engineers to minimise fuel consumption without affecting driving fun.
While the new 160PS ecoFLEX engine is still under final testing, we are confident it will emit well below 140g/km CO2, using the innovative Clean-Tech process to ensure the lowest possible emissions. Yet Insignia ecoFLEX sprints from zero to 62mph in 9.5 seconds and boasts 350Nm maximum torque from a low 1750rpm, temporarily increased to 380Nm via an ‘overboost’ function.
A major factor contributing to the vehicle’s low fuel consumption and emission figures is the incredible level of investment in reducing the car’s drag co-efficient. A lowered chassis, the use of low-resistance Michelin Primacy HP tyres and a host of detailed body adjustments have produced a CD of just 0.26, making it one of the most aerodynamic production saloons in the world.
